![]() ![]() A key element of racism is it is based on perceptions - both real and imagined differences among groups of people. Race is a distinct concept from racism but the two are related. Since its inception, racism has been embedded in the American culture. Africans were enslaved and forcibly brought to America for the express intention of building and supporting the US economy. Because of this insecurity, what ensued, on the part of Europeans, were sordid and sociopathic oppressive ways of interacting with those who were not White.
